Does anyone have an update on this article please? As of February 2010 I believe Atlantic Star (Sky Wonder) is laid up in Marseille (I saw her there myself in January), Oceanic is still running with the Japanese Peace Boat organisation, though she arrived at New York with a miniscule leak in her hull and then had engine problems at Vancouver both on the same voyage in 2009, and The Emerald certainly ran with Louis Cruises in 2009, though often to a hastily re-arranged schedule on a number of trips through the summer.

It's hard to believe the steam era is finished. We haven't been to sea much in the last 17 years, but in the 1970s and 80s all the ships we travelled on were steam powered. Actually the QE2 was the only diesel ship we have been on, and on our earlier crossings she was in steam. Oh well, there's always RMS Segwun for a short day cruise on the Muskoka lakes and the Trillium in Toronto harbour.
