Alaska Planning Ideas

There are more ways to see Alaska and the Canadian Rockies than from the deck of your ship. Most of the cruise lines that offer Alaska cruise itineraries also offer cruise tours. You could savour the luxury of your cruise then take a motor coach tour, with overnight stays in impressive wilderness lodges, or take a train ride to your hotel for a stay of a few days.

All ships offer shore excursions (additional fees apply), you could go sea kayaking, whale watching, take a heli-tour for an exciting view of a glacier, pan for gold, ride a train into mountain terrain from Skagway, visit Denali National Park, walk on a glacier, take a bike and brew tour, go hiking, take a ride in a jet boat, go horseback riding, enjoy a salmon barbeque, sample the local food, go on a photo safari, take a tour in a 1930s or 40s vintage car, or visit a salmon hatchery. And this isn't even a complete list of the things you can see and do! Shore excursions offered vary between ships, and ports. You can see that there is a tremendous variety of things to do on shore while you are in Alaska. Your ship will offer you comfortable accommodation, extraordinary dining, excellent service, entertainment, spa services (additional fees), and daily activities.
